You know you live in a small community if............

Yesterday while coming home from town we met the school bus on the county road.  I remarked that it was not the usual driver.  Carol remarked that she couldn't see who was driving.  My answer was that the driver waved different than the regular driver.  I thought about that statement after I had said it, and.......You know you live in a small community if you recognize people by their wave."  Just one of those quirky little things a person doesn't think about, it just comes with the territory.   (And I may add they generally wave with all their fingers! )

We have some weather coming tonite and tomorrow.  Weather radio sounded off at 5AM with a blizzard warning for tonite through Saturday .  We are on a dividing line where the heaviest snowfall is expected.  Up to 16 inches with 30-45 MPH winds. May not be pretty.  Not unusual though.  Our snows usually come horizontal.  Barbed wire fences do not block much wind, and jack rabbits lay their ears down.  Therefore the wind just speeds on across the flat lands. I have copied the following part of the warning:

* OTHER IMPACTS...THIS STORM IS EXPECTED TO CREATE HAZARDOUS IF
NOT IMPOSSIBLE TRAVEL CONDITIONS AND WILL ADVERSELY AFFECT ANY
  OTHER OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES.

Now my thought is this---how many outdoor activities are you going to plan in this kind of weather? Especially with a day or two notice.

Famous quote of the day---"Only Irish coffee provides in a single glass all four essential food groups: alcohol, caffeine, sugar and fat." Alex Levine
