Hump Day

Ta-da---Hump day.  Don't mean much after a person retires.  If I don't get it finished today, I'll just finish it tomorrow.  No big deal.  At this point we try to spend more time in preparing for the future.  We have done a lot this winter, but not near enough.  Which brings up another subject.  Actually same subject, just different point.  The Doomsday Preppers TV show.  I am going to parallel and agree with the same thing my friend Stephen said,  and add to it.   Some of them had 20 years of food and supplies built up and were still spending 40-80 hours a week working on it.  My thoughts.....spend a couple of hours a day and clean up the mess!  This group had built their compound out of metal shipping containers. They were testing solidness of the containers by shooting at the container with a 22 from 100 yards.  Hardly made a dent.  Wow.  Boy was I impressed!  Almost couldn't contain myself on this one. These people don't have a clue.  I'm sure that if someone chucking a little incoming at them it wouldn't be a 22. The funny part was that there was windows not 10 feet from where they were shooting.   On the second episode there were some people (liberal) that decided that they would not need guns to protect themselves in the event of   SHTF.  They are including their community in their plans and will provide for them also.  Spread the love.....right.  I am for all the love in the world, but love will not stop incoming!  Sorry, just thinking and rambling.  Then to top it off the network people "in the know"  come in with their expert comments.  All the economists that they talk to say there is little or no chance of the US ever suffering an economic collapse.  Hello, what rock have you been living under.    Damn liberal TV.   Just makes me feel like I wiped with sandpaper!  Very slim chance that California will suffer a major earthquake.  Hello again.  Same rock.  There was one family living on a ranch in Colorado (second episode)  that had it a little more together.  But still, why do you want to advertise all this on national TV?  Seems like they are just buying trouble.   Oh well not my problem.  Just some thoughts that bugged me.  I have more, but if I keep going I will need to take an atvian pill to settle me down!

Like I said before, we are not prepared enough for what may come, nor will we probably ever be.  If the cost of food keeps going up, it will be hard just to keep up with the present.  Yesterday while shopping I noticed that an 8lb jar of peanut butter that 2 weeks ago was almost $9, was now $14.52.  We had stocked up earlier, but not enough .  Every month we just try to add to our supplies.  Just "keep on keepin' on".

Everyone have a good second half of the week.  God Bless--johnnyb

  1. You touched on what got me the most. Their "stupid" economists denied everything except the possibility that the earthquake might happen. Stupid idiots.

    1. Matt-It's like they think we don't see what is going on around us.

  2. Well said..and you have a good point...slow and steady wins the race. None of us, I mean none, will ever be prepared enough. Yet, it beats sitting on your butt with nothing done.

    1. Rob--I think so. There are a couple of people nearby that I would not trust to know what we have.

  4. Carol reminded me of another point that I forgot while doing the post today was that one lady was canning chicken with a water bath not pressure canning. That is death in the making.---johnnyb

  5. I haven't seen the show yet, but plan to, just to see what everyone is talking about. I definitely agree that I wouldn't advertise what I am doing all over tv.

    1. Unless they upgrade the show for next week, I think you will be amazed.
