The next picture was taken yesterday afternoon, same area, after 2 days of winds in the 50-70 MPH range: The blowing dust was terrible. These old houses are not the most airtight of buildings. In the areas where there were wheat stubble fires last summer, it was a complete brown-out. I haven't found any damage around here. All the trees seem to have all their limbs.
It was dry enough this summer that weeds didn't grow real good, so that eliminated the problems of tumbleweeds traveling through at 60 MPH and destroying everything in its path. Winds today are only supposed to be in the 20 MPH range, so it won't be so bad.
Oh well, such is life in the fast lane. Could be worse.

It does call back memories of a very bad time in our history, doesn't it?
ReplyDeletePretty scary!
yes it does.
DeleteSo does the economy.
ReplyDeleteThat's scary, too!
Equally so.
DeleteIf have winds in that range most of my roof would be gone...oaks and pines do not like high winds. Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteWe have lost a few shingles, but that seems to be all.
DeleteGuess I know where the 30 mph to 45 mph wind gusts I got yesterday came from. Was still windy today. Too windy to work on my shed but I got the wood furnace completely finished and going but only because it was on the East side of the house.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been able to do much around here. Supposed to be nice for a couple of days, which will be good.
