Thursday ramblings

I caught these pics as a storm was moving through.  We didn't get any rain, but some areas close by did.  Also hail and a little wind.  Just enough to blow some things, like road sharks (thistles) back south that went north in the bad winds over the weekend. Don't need the hail.    We had covered the tomatoes, and raspberries.  Most everything else is on their own.  Still time to replant if I would have to.  The quail house is finished.  Chicks should be here next week.  We are looking forward to them once again.

Not much else going on in this small part of the world.  A mountain lion was seen about a 1/2 mile from our house last week.  Getting a little close.  We saw one a couple of years ago east 2 miles. I have seen others over the years,or seen sign of them.  Plenty of natural prey for them around here.  They shouldn't be hungry.  I know that authorities say that there are none around, but if you have deer, you have lions.  Basic simple laws of nature.

I haven't watched any news yet today, so my blood pressure is doing fine.  Still boiling over some things of the past few days.  I won't dwell on it, because I will just get to ranting and raving and not make any sense.  Others who are better at words have said it anyway.

We watched the Hatfield and McCoy movie on History channel.  Interesting watch.  I am sure it was Hollywoodized in parts to make more exciting, but the basic theme was there.  There was a similar feud close by here early 1900's.  It was a battle between a family of farmers and an affluent family of ranchers.  Didn't last as long as Hatfield and McCoy feud, but lives were lost.  The main fight ensued over a windmill and stock tank.

You know--things like this could erupt in the future---just thinking.  Except now it is called civil unrest instead of a feud.

God Bless--johnnyb

  1. I loved the Hatfields and McCoys and, of course, situations were reconstructed for the dramatic affect. While we pride ourselves on not reacting to 'minor' things as they did, the over-reactions by "sensitive individuals" in today's culture leads to the gathering of unrelated hoards and over-retaliations.

Thus is why my home is armed.

  2. The rain seems to be mostly diverting around us as well. It's a Hatfield conspiracy I bet :)

  3. We watched H & M, too. Glamorized, I'm sure, but fun to watch someone's take on it.
