Winter storm Virgil

Spring has arrived with a vengeance.  I am ready for winter to be over with.  This should be about the end of it.  The moisture was good.  Well received by the farmers.  Still need a lot to just be caught up on the moisture end.  Still amused at why we have to name a damned blizzard!!!!

We had a few days of nice weather, so I was able to start some of the garden prep work.  I took down all of the fence around the garden and bunny-proofed the cattle panels better.  A couple of more good days and I will about have that done.  It is about time to put in the root crops.  Probably right after the first of the month.  Had it not been for the storm, I would have put them in last week.  Onions that I missed last fall are coming up, so I guess it is time.

We have various projects planned for this spring.  Among them is more storage for dry goods.  That will give us more room for the canned goods in the house.  Carol has canned some ham that was on sale.  She has dry canned some other things.  Hopefully this year will be a better garden year.  We have some fruit trees coming soon, and more asparagus.

Thought for the day--Sometimes I think I am too picky,  but then I watch my dog look for a place to poop!!

God bless--johnnyb

  1. We are getting hit with Virgil now. No telling how long it's going to be before I can get into the garden for planting at this point it's going to be too wet for a while.

  2. Very intelligent plan, food storage and garden. I sorely wish others would take a hint from you. I like your pictures, and yes, blizzards really don't need names, but ask them to name the next, Stephen...I feel the need to kick some butt.

    1. Maybe we can get that on the list for next year!

  3. I am so glad I moved south when I did, since back home in NH they have gotten slammed with snow storm after snow storm. Hope the flakes help with the water levels for you all.
