A.A.A.D.D.

Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder...
Somehow I feel better, even though I have it!!

Recently, I was diagnosed [by my wife, children, co-workers…] with A.A.A.D.D.
Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.
As I turned on the hose in the driveway,
I looked over at my car and decided it needs washing.

As I started toward the garage,
I noticed mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decided to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table,
put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and noticed that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back
on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think,
since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table,
and see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
so I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks,
but first I need to push the Pepsi aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The Pepsi is getting warm,
and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need water.

I put the Pepsi on the counter and
discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning...

I decide I better put them back on my desk,
but first I'm going to water the flowers.
I set the glasses back down on the counter,
fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I'll be looking for the remote,
but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,
so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers,
but quite a bit of it spills on to the floor.

So, I set the remote back on the table,
get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to
remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:
the car isn't washed
the bills aren't paid
there is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter
the flowers don't have enough water,
there is still only 1 check in my check book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,
I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day, and I'm really tired.

Winter storm Virgil

Spring has arrived with a vengeance.  I am ready for winter to be over with.  This should be about the end of it.  The moisture was good.  Well received by the farmers.  Still need a lot to just be caught up on the moisture end.  Still amused at why we have to name a damned blizzard!!!!

We had a few days of nice weather, so I was able to start some of the garden prep work.  I took down all of the fence around the garden and bunny-proofed the cattle panels better.  A couple of more good days and I will about have that done.  It is about time to put in the root crops.  Probably right after the first of the month.  Had it not been for the storm, I would have put them in last week.  Onions that I missed last fall are coming up, so I guess it is time.

We have various projects planned for this spring.  Among them is more storage for dry goods.  That will give us more room for the canned goods in the house.  Carol has canned some ham that was on sale.  She has dry canned some other things.  Hopefully this year will be a better garden year.  We have some fruit trees coming soon, and more asparagus.

Thought for the day--Sometimes I think I am too picky,  but then I watch my dog look for a place to poop!!

God bless--johnnyb

Ultimate Freedom Video

Even if you aren't a country music fan, I think you'll agree that Alan Jackson 's rendition of this hymn is beautiful, as is the slide
show reminding us of the reason this country became the greatest nation in the history of mankind..    Ultimate Freedom

Hope you are all having a good week.--johnnyb

TGIF

That used to be one of the big things of the week.  Being retired, everyday is Friday, or Monday or Saturday.  Doesn't make much difference now.  But for those who look forward to it--TGIF.   Weather has been up and down this week.  We've pretty much had all seasons.  Warm days, cool nights,  snow flurries, and possibility of thunder boomers tonite and tomorrow  and then blowing snow on Saturday nite and Sunday.  Then a little warming again.  I need SPRING.  AND NOW!!!  I am going to have to get some pellets for the stove.  Last year we used 2 1/2 pallets.  This year we are looking at 3.  2 years ago was 3 pallets also.  I hate to have them laying around through the summer.

We have started a few pots of tomatoes and some herbs in the house.  Yarrow is coming up, but nothing else yet.  We have other things to start as time goes this month.  We have been collecting mineral tubs from some cattlemen in the area.  We will use them for flowers, herbs and some root veggies.  Kind of a cross between container and raised bed gardening.  As time goes, I will include pics to show how they work.

Just a cute pic for today--

God Bless All--johnnyb
